A new, free vendor directory now is available with no fees, no middlemen, no algorithmic premium placement, and up-front pricing info.

Are you tired of Googling “event photographer near me” at 11 p.m. in a desperate stab at finding someone to cover your gala event next Saturday? Or texting “does anyone know a good DMC in the Philadelphia area” in three group chats while also juggling the 47 other tasks that need immediate attention? Then, even if you get some suggestions, you still end up crossing your fingers and toes in hopes that they’re not A) already booked solid over your dates or B) ridiculously out of your budget range?

Noah Cheyer, co-founder of a speakers bureau that specializes in presenters fluent in AI called Speak About AI who has since launched a newsletter and a number of popular AI-based, free apps for planners — including a very popular timeline generator — says, “I wanted to help solve this and have a better list of recommendations when planners came to me asking for a referral.” So he started compiling an event industry vendor directory that’s free for anyone to use, contains no middleman fees, and includes up-front, transparent pricing.

While it’s still a work in progress — he is continually looking to add new vendors and categories to the directory — so far it already has listings for vendors in catering and food and beverage (F&B), photography and videography, AV and production, entertainment (speakers, performers and experiences), venues and event services (décor, rentals, staffing, logistics).

According to Cheyer, his new event industry vendor directory is different from what’s already out there in several ways:

  • No one gets paid premium placement. “Every vendor gets equal visibility (unlike platforms where quality gets buried behind ‘premium placements’),” he says.
  • Transparent pricing that enable planners to see price ranges before they call or send an RFP — as he says, “No more awkward ‘what’s your budget?’ dances,”
  • Straight-to-vendor contact, meaning you can reach out directly to vendors without having to go through a platform middleman that takes a percentage or inflates prices.• Smart filtering that enables users to search by category, location and budget to quickly find what you’re looking for.

As Cheyer says, the real value of his directory is “Every hour spent researching vendors is an hour not spent on strategy, attendee experience or the hundred things only you can do. The directory eliminates that friction.” He adds, “No waiting. No sales calls. No credit card. Just the resource I wish I had six months ago.”

Planners who want instant access to the directory, and vendors who want to get a free listing, can contact Cheyer through his LinkedIn post by leaving a “DIRECTORY” message. In just a couple of weeks, he already has garnered more than 700 requests, along with a lot of heartfelt ‘thank you’s.
