Delta is introducing Delta Comfort Basic, “a new travel experience” on sale today in select markets for travel on or after Nov. 19.
Planners, this new offering could solve your problem of wanting to elevate your client’s flight exprerience without breaking the bank.
Designed for customers who want the extra legroom and premium onboard experience of Delta Comfort—but at a lower price point—Delta Comfort Basic offers the same onboard perks as Comfort Classic or Extra, including the following:
- More legroom
- Dedicated overhead bin space
- Zone 3 boarding
- Complimentary wine, beer and spirits on most flights
The restrictions? Seats are assigned after check-in, so if selecting a seat is a priority for your client, or if you need more flexibility or refundability, then the Classic or Extra options might better suit your needs.
Also, like Delta Main Basic, a Comfort Basic fare is not eligible for upgrades. Additionally, the new option is only available for revenue tickets and not for Award bookings (e.g., for purchase with miles). Delta Main Basic is still available for Award tickets.
On the plus side, Comfort Basic passengers are still eligible for Delta Sky Club access (with valid entry credentials such as a Delta Sky Club membership or a qualifying credit card). In addition, they’ll retain the ability to earn Medallion Qualification Dollars (MQDs) and miles with SkyMiles (2 miles per dollar spent, excluding taxes and fees).
Comfort Basic is currently available only on very select Delta-marketed and operated domestic itineraries. If you don’t see Delta Comfort Basic as an option during booking, it means it’s not currently available for that flight or route.
