The 8th Annual IMEX America Wellbeing Challenge was a winner with participants who meant business when it came to fitness.
Held Oct. 7-9 at Mandalay Bay in Las Vegas, IMEX America set records in attendance, with over 17,000 participants and the biggest exhibition floor to date.
But 534 attendees were focused on records of another kind—points earned during the 8th Annual IMEX America Wellbeing Challenge. Powered by Heka Health and sponsored by Caesars Entertainment, the Challenge totaled an amazing 12,362,679 points for participation in 1,961 bonus wellbeing activities.
And these competitors came to play—44.9% of participants (240 in total) exceeded the 20K+ point level goal. See photos of some of the 20K+ prize winners here.
Meanwhile, 31.8% of participants (170 in total) exceeded the 30K+ point level goal, with three—Michele, FIRSTHotStepps and Angela J.—winning the 30K+ Point Prize Drawing for a Caesars Entertainment Wellness Package, which included a choice of wellness getaways in Lake Tahoe, Atlantic City or Paris Las Vegas.
In addition, all participants in the Final Top 10 on the leaderboard were entered into a drawing for one Wellness Stay at Caesars Palace Package; and that lucky winner is below.
Winners Stepped Up to Victory
Topping the leaderboard was Jim Griffith, Executive Director, American Medical Society for Sports Medicine; this was his third year placing first. In addition, he won the top 10 prize drawing—the Wellness Stay at Caesars Palace Package
“Five years ago I was diagnosed with kidney cancer and foot drop and had 3 surgeries. Today I still have to wear an AFO brace on my right foot but am fortunate to be five years cancer-free,” Jim told Prevue. “Since then I’ve gotten at least 20,000 steps every day for the past four-plus years. During IMEX, my body clock stayed on Central Time Zone so I was up at 3:30 every morning and rather than take the shuttle, I walked from Resorts World to the Mandalay Bay each way. I ended up with more than 66 miles of walking during the three days I was at IMEX.”
“I’m a big fan of this program and how it encourages us to strive to achieve more,” he added.
The team who topped the leaderboard? Heron Hill Ranch, including members Hayley Landingham, an independent event planner; Daniel Cooper, Heron Hill Project Manager; and Matthew Murphy, Heron Hill Owner.
“I participated in the wellbeing challenge at IMEX Frankfurt and really enjoyed the challenge. When taking my clients to their first IMEX America, I wanted them to take advantage of the teambuilding by participating as a team in the wellbeing challenge… we encouraged each other to achieve the same accomplishments and worked together to complete the bonus challenges,” Hayley told us.
She added, “It was a great way for them to fully experience IMEX for their first time. I’m so glad we won together, and all three of us made the top 10! They won a wellbeing challenge for their organization, Heron Hill Ranch.”
