Women's History MonthThe company’s iconic lion logo has become a lioness for Women’s History Month.

This year’s Women’s History Month theme, “Visionary Women: Champions of Peace & Nonviolence,” honors women the world over who have led nonviolent efforts to end war, violence and injustice. The message aligns well with MGM’s ongoing efforts to promote gender equality and acknowledge women as the cornerstones of communities.

MGM Resorts was recognized by Forbes as one of the “Best Employers for Women in 2018,” with a more than 50 percent women domestic workforce and 44 percent women in domestic management. Earlier this year, the hotel company promoted Ann Hoff, president and COO of Excalibur Hotel & Casino, as one of three group presidents for MGM Resorts. This came at the heels of MGM’s hiring of the first two women presidents of Strip resorts and the first female executive chef in the F&B industry on The Strip.

The non-profit MGM Resorts Foundation, meanwhile, is currently gearing up for its 13th annual “Women’s Leadership Conference,” a two-day personal and professional development conference that gathered more than 1,600 attendees last year. First established in 2007 as the “Women of Color Conference,” the goal of “Women’s Leadership,” according to Phyllis A. James, chief diversity and corporate responsibility officer for MGM Resorts International, is to connect women leaders and give voice and solutions to the distinct challenges they face, leaving them feeling “renewed, inspired and motivated to take on personal goals with a fresh perspective.”

Leona the lion will be hanging out on MGM Resorts International’s social media channels for the entirety of Women’s History Month. Visit her and learn more about this August’s Women’s Leadership Conference by connecting with them on Twitter: @MGMResortsIntl.
