Prevue’s Meet Well Visionary Summit—held at the Orlando-area Inn at Celebration Aug. 4-6—lasted two days, but the ideas, advice and experiences shared were designed to last a lifetime.

More than 30 planners from around the country met here for appointments with suppliers, networking and the opportunity to work things out. Not necessarily their bodies—although yoga and cycling were offered—but working out how to add more wellness to their events as well as their lives.

“We want to focus more on wellness and the activities the group can do during break time,” said Julie Wakley, Conference Director for The Liberty Fund, explaining her reason for attending Meet Well.

In addition to its airy, Florida-inspired design, the 115-room boutique-style Inn at Celebration—a Marriott Bonvoy property—prepared curated menus of fresh and flavorful cuisine that perfectly complemented Prevue’s Summit theme. Meanwhile, a visionary trio of wellness pioneers shared their expertise in three transformative keynote sessions.

Keynotes to Wellness

David T. Stevens

David T. Stevens, co-founder of Olympian Meeting and the Club Ichi meeting planner community tackled the topic, “Beyond the Hype: Wellness That Works in Events,” noting that the global wellness industry was worth $6.3 trillion and would reach $8 trillion by 2030.

“What do we do for a living? We bring people together,” Stevens said, stressing mindfulness, social interaction and the importance of movement as key to physical and mental health.

Connection to others also was stressed by keynote speaker Dr. Jess Garza, owner of the consulting business Legacy Mindset, who—in her talk “Pressure to Presence: the Event Pro’s Guide to Influence and Impact”—cited certain facets of “emotional intelligence” that  planners (and everyone) need for success in work and life—self-awareness, self-regulation, social awareness and relationship management.

The Summit’s final presentation—“Ready and Resilient: Thriving in a World of Disruption”—was given by Fortune 500 Keynote Speaker Nolan Nichols, who reinforced the power of the journey instead of the destination. “Don’t save all your joy for the destination,” he advised. “Happiness comes in peaks…most of the time, there’s no such thing as a bad day, just moments that we choose to take with us all day long.”

Wellness Activations

In addition to thought-provoking sessions, Summit attendees enjoyed such wellness activations as sunrise yoga, a guided breathwork and stretching class and bicycle treks through surrounding conservation lands.

In the Zen Den—the Summit’s comfy relaxation lounge—attendees created their own aromatherapy salt scrubs with CROW Practice; while David T. Stevens hosted an immersive and therapeutic virtual reality experience via his partnership with Novobeing.
