Turkish Airlines has partnered with Samsung Electronics to launch a new Smart Tagged Baggage Service, allowing passengers to seamlessly track their baggage using an app.

The new service is available as of Dec. 1 and is powered by SmartThings Find, which enables faster and more efficient tracking of misplaced or delayed baggage equipped with Galaxy SmartTag.

“Turkish Airlines continues to lead the industry on its road to digitalization,” said Kerem Kızıltunc, Chief Information Technologies Officer, in a press release statement. “We are delighted to partner with Samsung to leverage their cutting-edge technology for the benefit of our passengers. We will continue to strengthen our industry leadership with technological collaborations that prioritize guest satisfaction and set new standards for the aviation industry.”

Utilizing Samsung’s technology, passengers will also be able to upload a photo of their luggage within the SmartThings Find app, helping identify their baggage more easily. The airline aims to extend the use of SmartThings Find beyond baggage services, integrating location-based capabilities into future passenger-focused digital solutions.

While other airlines also use luggage tracking apps, the Turkish flag carrier becomes the first airline worldwide to integrate Samsung’s SmartThings technologies into its passenger baggage-recovery processes, extending its existing support for Apple AirTags and ensuring that passengers across both mobile ecosystems can now benefit from smart luggage tracking.

“Samsung is expanding the SmartThings Find experience through partnerships across industries to help customers stay connected and at ease wherever they are,” said Jaeyeon Jung, Executive VP and Head of SmartThings, Samsung Electronics, in a press release statement. “We are delighted to work with Turkish Airlines to deliver a more convenient and streamlined travel experience.”
