We tapped the road warriors on Prevue’s Editorial Advisory Board and our editors to share their favorite packing tips.

We asked several members of  Prevue’s Advisory Board and our magazine’s editors about their most clever packing tips. Here’s what they had to say.

Organizers!

I always pack using my Eagle Creek Pack-It organizers. This enables me to fit enough in my overhead carryon for a two week trip. I roll items in the Pack It cubes: underwear in the slim cube and workout clothing and PJs in a larger cube.  Pants, shirts and dresses are folded and compressed in the flat garment folder. Not only is this incredibly efficient packing, but I also use the packing cubes for drawer organizers in my hotel.—Regina Baraban, Senior Contributing Editor

Rent the Runway

Wardrobe services (Armoire, Rent the Runway) will ship outfits right to a hotel if you are there for a long time and then you can send back from them as well!  No packing—and you have “new” clothes for an event!—Nanci GageMBA, Advisor, Proton Therapy Partners

Sample Sizes

I signed up for monthly makeup samples from Ipsy and they are just perfect for travel. You can set your preferences for everything, from lipstick to skincare, as well as the brands you prefer, and you will receive the most creative products from small, independent makers, as well as the brands you’ll find at Sephora. And you get a free makeup bag each month, which come in handy or you can share with friends.—Barbara Scofidio, Editor, Prevue

Foldable Clothing

I like to pack my “magic” dress from an Italian designer. It is reversible, it does not need ironing, and dries quickly should I have to wash it. And it folds into a little bag. The same with my ultra light down winter jacket  and vest from UNIQLO, they fit into a tiny pouch.—Steffi Kordy, CITP, Owner, Cocoon Incentives

Two, Max

I write down my planned out fits and try to coordinate everything so I only have to take 2 pairs of shoes and wear the same jewelry the entire time.—Deidre Young, CMP, CGMP, DYNamic Ventures

Roll Your Clothes

My best tip is so simple: Roll all of your clothes up and that creates a lot more space in your suitcase.—Doug Wheeler, Principal/CEO, Summit Performance Group

Ziplocks

Squirt out your hair conditioner, shampoo, lotion, hair gel each in their own baggies. Write what it is with a Sharpie then put all in one larger ziplock for extra protection from spillage.—Lisa Coakley, Co-owner, Paramount Planners

Create a “Go Bag”

Since I travel frequently, I keep a “go bag” ready with favorites, so I don’t dread packing for every trip – and keep a packing list on my phone of items that need to be replaced/replenished/purchased, etc.—Kimberly Bean, Event Strategist/Meetings & Incentive Planner, KBT Creative Support Services

Z-Pack

I used to travel internationally quite a bit and was always afraid that I would get sinus infections, so I would bring a strong antibiotic like Z-Pack with me. I would call my doctor every now and then for a refill and he knew why and wouldn’t ask me to come to his office.—Anonymous

Always Be Prepared

Having experienced way too many flight delays and lost baggage, I always include a lightweight fresh change of clothing, a scarf, and a personal hygiene kit in my carry on wherever I go, even for quick domestic flights!—Leslie Zeck, Director of Meetings, International Association for Dental Research, American Association for Dental, Oral, and Craniofacial Research
