We tapped the road warriors on Prevue’s Editorial Advisory Board and our editors to share their favorite packing tips.

We asked several members of  Prevue’s Advisory Board and our magazine’s editors about their most clever packing tips. Here’s what they had to say.

Organizers!

I always pack using my Eagle Creek Pack-It organizers. This enables me to fit enough in my overhead carryon for a two week trip. I roll items in the Pack It cubes: underwear in the slim cube and workout clothing and PJs in a larger cube.  Pants, shirts and dresses are folded and compressed in the flat garment folder. Not only is this incredibly efficient packing, but I also use the packing cubes for drawer organizers in my hotel.—Regina Baraban, Senior Contributing Editor

Rent the Runway

Wardrobe services (Armoire, Rent the Runway) will ship outfits right to a hotel if you are there for a long time and then you can send back from them as well!  No packing—and you have “new” clothes for an event!—Nanci Gage, MBA, Advisor, Proton Therapy Partners

Sample Sizes

I signed up for monthly makeup samples from Ipsy and they are just perfect for travel. You can set your preferences for everything, from lipstick to skincare, as well as the brands you prefer, and you will receive the most creative products from small, independent makers, as well as the brands you’ll find at Sephora. Foldable Clothing

I like to pack my “magic” dress from an Italian designer. It is reversible, it does not need ironing, and dries quickly should I have to wash it. And it folds into a little bag. The same with my ultra light down winter jacket  and vest from UNIQLO, they fit into a tiny pouch.—Steffi Kordy, CITP, Owner, Cocoon Incentives

Two, Max

Roll Your Clothes

Ziplocks

Squirt out your hair conditioner, shampoo, lotion, hair gel each in their own baggies. Write what it is with a Sharpie then put all in one larger ziplock for extra protection from spillage.—Lisa Coakley, Co-owner, Paramount Planners

Create a “Go Bag”

Z-Pack

I used to travel internationally quite a bit and was always afraid that I would get sinus infections, so I would bring a strong antibiotic like Z-Pack with me. I would call my doctor every now and then for a refill and he knew why and wouldn’t ask me to come to his office.—Anonymous

Always Be Prepared

Barbara Scofidio is Editor of Prevue and heads up the Visionary Summits, our exclusive conference series targeting senior-level meeting and incentive planners. In her 30 years in the industry, she has become known for her passion around greening meetings, growing awareness of human trafficking and promoting CSR activities as part of business events. She is currently a member of SITE's Women IN Leadership committee and the media liaison for FICP's Education Committee. She was the first member of the media ever to be invited to sit on a committee by GBTA, where she spent three years on the Groups and Meetings Committee. She has also been an active member of SITE for 30 years, chairing its Crystal Awards committee and acting as a judge.
