Transcend Cruises has officially launched MS Connect, a river cruise ship designed exclusively for charters and groups.
The vessel was christened Aug. 3 in Dordrecht, Netherlands, before embarking on its inaugural voyage to Zaandam.
“With MS Connect, we are completely redefining river cruising for groups. Every detail of this ship has been purpose-built for meetings, incentives, conferences and exclusive events. Our goal was to create a flexible, premium and sustainable platform that meets the needs of today’s event organizers while delivering experiences that simply cannot be replicated on land,” said Gregg Marston, CEO of Transcend Cruises, in a media statement.
Built exclusively for the charter market, the 442-foot vessel accommodates up to 120 guests in 60 staterooms that can be converted into 30 two-room suites, offering planners greater flexibility for executive retreats, incentive programs and VIP events.
Purpose-Built for the MICE Market
MS Connect features five configurable meeting and event venues equipped with integrated audiovisual technology, high-speed internet and digital branding capabilities, allowing organizations to transform the ship into a fully branded floating venue. The onboard setup is designed to support conferences, board meetings, networking receptions and other corporate gatherings.
Beyond its meeting facilities, MS Connect offers customizable food and beverage programming ranging from fine dining to regional cuisine, as well as wellness and fitness areas.
The vessel was built by Dutch shipbuilder Den Breejen Shipyard, with interiors by Tillberg Design of Sweden and operational management by United Waterways.
Sustainability was also a key focus during development. MS Connect incorporates a circular design approach, low-emission propulsion technologies, battery-powered maneuvering systems and optimized fuel and water storage to reduce emissions and improve efficiency. Its reduced draft also allows it to continue operating during periods of low water on Europe’s rivers.
Fleet Expansion Planned Through 2028
MS Connect is the first of several vessels planned for the Transcend Cruises fleet. The company expects to add MS Evolve, MS Create and MS Engage by 2028, with a long-term goal of operating up to 12 charter-only river cruise ships across Europe’s major waterways, including the Rhine, Danube, Main, Moselle and Dutch and Belgian river systems.
