Marriott International opened the doors of the first all-inclusive resort conceptualized by the Marriott brand, the Marriott Cancun, An All-Inclusive Resort, in the Quintana Roo region of Mexico. True, Marriott has been in the all-inclusive game for a few years with takeovers of existing hotels, but the Marriott Cancun, An All-Inclusive Resort marks the first-ever all-inclusive resort developed by Marriott from start to finish.

Taking the place of the Marriott Cancun Resort, which closed its doors for extensive renovations last year, the new 450-room Marriott Cancun, An All-Inclusive Resort invites incentive travelers to connect with one another—and the local culture—through enriching experiences, engaging entertainment and personalized hospitality. With the opening of this innovative new property, Marriott intends to redefine what it means to be ‘all-inclusive,’ not only in terms of services offered, but in terms of accommodating the lifestyles of visiting guests.

“It’s exciting to be at the forefront of a groundbreaking new resort like this,” said Chris Calabrese, General Manager and Vice President of Marriott Cancun, An All-Inclusive Resort and JW Marriott Cancun Resort & Spa, in a media announcement. “To be the first all-inclusive fully conceptualized by Marriott, not only in Mexico, but in the world, is a true testament to the culture and care for our guests we’ve built at this location. We are thrilled to welcome our guests back with open arms.”

While programming and activities evolve throughout the year, standout experiences include:

  1. The Greatroom—a signature concept for Marriott Hotels, with a unique twist created especially for All-Inclusive properties. As the hub of the resort experience, it’s a place where guests can come together to socialize between activities. With a captivating design and a seamless flow from indoor to outdoor, it’s also an opportunity to further connect with the locale.
  2. Novice-to-Expert Artist Workshops—unique programming and activities designed to improve guests’ sense of fulfillment. They can learn about the destination through the eyes of local craftspeople, with hands-on classes and experiences that broaden horizons for engaging with one another as well as the local culture.
  3. Elevated Amenities and Rich Entertainment—designed with every type of guest experience in mind. Whether guests are seeking ‘me time’ or ‘we time,’ options include pools and water slides, unique pop-up cinema moments, nightly entertainment and beachside group picnics.
  4. A Seat at the Table for Every Generation—a guarantee with the well-rounded restaurant offerings available at every resort. Guests will be able to indulge in familiar cuisine with nostalgic touches, such as the signature burger and shake restaurant; beach-inspired eateries; and unique pop-up experiences and rituals, including Alice’s Tamale Ritual, an afternoon festivity that is steeped in the heritage of the Marriott name and will bring groups together around a delicious and memorable culinary experience.
