Feng shui in meeting room design. Aromatherapy teambuilding. Healthy gourmet cuisine. 20 meeting planners who are passionate about integrating wellness into their meetings joined Prevue and the Incentive Research Foundation for the second-annual Meet Well Summit last week at MGM Grand Las Vegas’ StayWell Conference Center.
From the start, this was no ordinary conference. Guests were able to check in privately at the StayWell lounge before checking into their StayWell rooms, fitted with such amenities as air purification, circadian rhythm lighting and Vitamin C showerheads. They were greeted with a special gift: a yoga mat from the hotel with an invite to attend “meeting planner yoga” the next morning. The MGM Grand also created a serene Zen lounge for attendees to sip fruit drinks and tea during breaks.
Highlights included a presentation by Debra Duneier of EcoChi about how she used the ancient art of feng shui to assist the Global Wellness Summit organizers in their room design during last year’s conference at The Breakers; a session where Dianne Devitt of DND Group worked with attendees to inject elements of wellness to their events; and Thrive! Meeting and Events’ Tracy Stuckrath’s dissection of banquet menus to do away with unhealthy choices and allergens. Attendees were also the first audience to learn the results of the Incentive Research Foundation’s annual trends survey around wellness.
At the opening reception at The Mansion, all dishes also had ingredients posted on a sign next to them—a unique touch. Attendees received a pair of Olukai sandals that evening from our amenity partner, Cultivate.
Attendees wore exercise clothes for the meeting day, and donned slippers given out by the hotel. During lunch, the MGM Grand’s chefs shared the philosophies and practices behind the special StayWell menu, a tasty selection that’s healthy, too. A whiteboard listed ideas for integrating wellness into meetings and everyone left signing a pledge to plan healthier meetings.
Many thanks to our hotel partner, the MGM Grand Las Vegas Hotel & Casino, as well as our sponsors: Caesars Entertainment, LaFonda on the Square, Playa Hotels & Resorts and Sandals Resorts l Beaches Resorts.
Prevue’s next Summit is the Duty of Care Summit, to be held April 30 to May 1 at the Hilton Westchester. Space is limited so apply now!
