The Greater Miami Convention & Visitors Bureau (GMCVB) spotlighted a record-breaking year for tourism in 2024.
Miami-Dade County welcomed over 28 million visitors, the most in its history, generating $22 billion in visitor spending and $2.2 billion in tax revenues. The local hospitality industry now supports over 209,000 jobs.
Miami also led in hotel occupancy and ranked fourth nationally among the top 25 U.S. hotel markets, while securing third in average daily room rate, confirming the destination’s enduring appeal among both domestic and international group markets.
Group Sales & Convention Growth
In a major win for the meetings industry, the GMCVB’s convention sales team exceeded its FY2024 goal by securing 16 new bookings at the Miami Beach Convention Center (MBCC), representing 65,000 attendees and 107,604 room nights, with an estimated $131 million in economic impact.
Additionally, nine more new events were recently booked, totaling 62,000 attendees and nearly 47,000 room nights, further adding $95 million in estimated impact.
The upcoming Grand Hyatt Miami Beach, an 800-room convention center hotel breaking ground this year and opening in 2027, is expected to significantly enhance the destination’s capacity to host large-scale meetings, exhibitions and international conferences.
Destination Appeal: Culinary, Cultural & Sustainable
Miami’s well-established culinary scene, highlighted by Michelin Guide recognitions and the revamped Miami Spice program in 2025, offers dynamic group dining options—from fine dining to authentic local flavors. New sustainability initiatives, including 71 hotels in the certification pipeline with Green Key Global, underscore the destination’s commitment to environmentally responsible hotels and events.
Global Reach and Airlift
Top international markets—Colombia (+8 percent), Brazil (+12 percent) and the UK (+10 percent)—continue to show strong year-over-year growth. Miami’s global spotlight will only intensify as the destination prepares to host high-impact events such as the 2026 FIFA World Cup, College Football Playoff National Championship, NHL Winter Classic and NASCAR Championship Race—providing ideal tie-in opportunities for corporate hospitality, sponsorship activations and incentive groups.
