The Westin Hilton Head Island Resort & Spa is closing today (Nov. 2) for a $50 million renovation that will introduce five new dining concepts, an adults-only pool, expanded spa and wellness facilities and updates to its meeting and event spaces.

The 420-room oceanfront resort is expected to reopen in mid-April 2027.

The project will touch nearly every part of the resort, from its arrival experience and dining venues to its pools, spa and meeting facilities. Building on recent guestroom updates, the renovation will introduce a redesigned lobby with an indoor/outdoor layout and ocean views, five new dining concepts, a dedicated adults-only pool and an expanded wellness offering.

“This investment represents an important next step for The Westin Hilton Head Island Resort & Spa,” said Markus Krebs, the hotel’s General Manager, in a media statement. “Our vision is to build upon what guests have long loved about this resort while thoughtfully reimagining the experience for its next chapter…we see tremendous opportunity in the resort and look forward to creating a destination that both longtime guests and a new generation of travelers will be excited to experience.”

New Dining Concepts

Food and beverage will be a major part of the property’s relaunch, with five concepts planned for the 2027 reopening. Cordelia’s will serve light bites, shared plates and cocktails in the lobby, with ocean views. Breakwater Provisions will offer coffee and tea, while Saltwater Social will focus on Lowcountry cuisine. Port House will provide a fine-dining option, and Shoreline will serve guests at the pools with both counter service and poolside dining.

A Larger Focus on Wellness

The resort’s Heavenly Spa by Westin will expand into a more comprehensive wellness campus combining spa treatments, fitness, recovery and relaxation. Led by Spa Director Hope Green, the updated facilities will include a thermal circuit with an expanded infrared sauna and new cold-plunge shower systems, complementing the existing steam showers.

A new outdoor Tranquility Garden will provide space for wellness classes and quiet time. The spa also will add treatment rooms, bringing the total to 11, and introduce signature services inspired by the Lowcountry.

Fitness facilities will receive an equipment upgrade, including Technogym equipment, Peloton bikes, a Frame Pilates Reformer, Rogue Assault Bike and Ski Erg. Beyond resort guests, the spa plans to offer membership programming and wellness events for local residents and groups.

Among other new additions is Stillwater, an adults-only pool and poolside retreat designed to offer a quieter alternative for guests seeking time to relax. It will complement the resort’s existing Shoreline pool and smaller Tide Pool, which will continue to serve families and guests of all ages.

An Event Lawn for private events will be part of the renovation.

Updates for Meetings and Events

The renovation also will address the resort’s approximately 40,000 sf of indoor and outdoor meeting and event space. Planned improvements include new boardrooms and meeting areas, along with enhancements to the Grand Event Lawn.

The updated facilities will continue to serve corporate and association meetings, retreats, destination weddings and social events. With its oceanfront location, the resort will retain its appeal as a setting for groups looking to combine business gatherings with a coastal destination.
