Come As You Are. Leave Inspired.

Meetings with devoted corporate social responsibility (CSR) tie-ins have become imperative for many planning professionals. They can have an impact on the entire event experience more than any other aspect.

But not just any destination can provide CSR opportunities, be intrinsically welcoming and elevate the attendee experience.

For that: Meet LA.

The LA Tourism team partners with various organizations and nonprofits throughout the region to help meeting professionals achieve their CSR goals through community-driven experiences—many of which bolster the values of diversity, equity and inclusion.

A unique example of this is also one of the most inspiring programs in the convention and trade show sector: the LACC Career Academy. It’s a powerful thing when people come together and collaborate for the goal of a good and inclusive future.

The Academy gives students in LA’s historically underserved areas the opportunity to visit the Los Angeles Convention Center (LACC) for an exclusive experience during a convention or event. The students walk the floors, learn more about the fields they’re interested in, and engage with national and global leaders working in various industries—leaders who, like many of the students, might not have had traditional paths to get to where they are professionally.

For the students, this is a promising, once-in-a-lifetime experience that can have a ripple effect on the rest of their lives.

Derivative of Los Angeles Mayor Eric Garcetti’s pledge to improve social and economic equity in the region, the Academy was brought to life by the L.A. City Tourism Department (CTD) in a unique partnership with Los Angeles Convention Center (LACC), LA Tourism, and the Los Angeles Unified School District.

See how the first experience of the Academy went for these students and get inspired to have your group get to know LA’s spirit of community.
