With the unveiling of its new Garden Terrace, the Sheraton San Diego Resort has just capped off off a comprehensive, multi-year, $123 million renovation.
Situated on Harbor Island and overlooking the breathtaking San Diego Bay, the 1,065-key property’s transformation drew inspiration from its marina location, combining contemporary design with classic elegance, and underscoring its commitment to delivering unforgettable experiences for business and leisure travelers alike.

The newest addition to the property, the waterfront Garden Terrace, is set against the stunning backdrop of the San Diego Bay. This modern yet dreamy space is ideal for special events, with a lush lawn, outdoor bar, pool and bar. At 3,600 sf, the Garden Terrace can accommodate events for up to 250 attendees.
The hotel now offers more than 132,367 sf of flexible indoor and outdoor meeting and event spaces, equipped with cutting-edge technology, seamless connectivity, and award-winning catering support. The property’s transformation earned a Northstar Stella Award Gold Medal for Best Renovation – Far West Region.

“We are overjoyed to unveil the new Garden Terrace, which beautifully put the finishing touches on Sheraton San Diego’s impressive transformation,” said Sean Clancy, Vice President and General Manager. “Our resort truly offers the best of San Diego, whether you’re celebrating a wedding, visiting for business, traveling with family, or enjoying a romantic escape.”
In November 2024, Sheraton San Diego Resort unveiled the fully reimagined Marina Tower, featuring fresh decor inspired by the natural palette of the coast. The Marina Tower’s 717 refreshed guestrooms and suites include the signature Sheraton Sleep Experience platform bed, local artwork with subtle nautical elements, height-adjustable worktables, and LED lighting throughout.
Previous phases of the renovation also welcomed five new dining concepts:
- Rumorosa: Cali-Baja inspired dishes with Mexican wines and agave spirits complemented by live music, overlooking the sparkling marina
- Brewery X: Relaxed atmosphere with crafted beverages and chef-driven bar bites
- Shorelight: Italian-American favorites with a side of the best views of the San Diego skyline
- Sunglow Cabana Bar: Seasonal poolside dining featuring SoCal-style shareables and frozen drinks
- Strada Italian Market: Italian specialties, gelato, coffee, pastries, and grab-and-go offerings
Sheraton San Diego Hotel & Marina was the first U.S. hotel to earn Green Seal Gold (2010) and continues its sustainability push through its On Purpose initiative—cutting plastics, energy and water use, and landfill waste. Investments include electric shuttle buses, an EDC hot water system to reduce gas use, and an on-site hydrogen fuel cell supplying over 80 percent of its power. In February 2026, it received the Good Earthkeeping Award from the San Diego County Lodging Association.
