Alaska Airlines is expanding its premium airport experience with the opening of a new lounge at Portland International Airport (PDX).

The approximately 14,000-sf Alaska Lounge features more than 200 seats, including the airline’s Signature Loungers, along with private workspaces and upgraded food and beverage offerings.

A New Premium Experience at PDX

The nearly $18 million project comes as Alaska Airlines continues to grow, operating more than 100 daily departures from the airport and serving more than 60 destinations across North America and beyond through the combined Alaska and Hawaiian Airlines network.

“Portland guests have chosen Alaska for years and played an important role in our growth in the Pacific Northwest,” said Shane Jones, VP of Fleet, Products and Guest Experience for Alaska Airlines, in a media statement. “This new Lounge is our way of thanking them and a reflection of our growing portfolio of premium guest experiences.”

The new facility offers travelers fresh, regionally inspired cuisine, barista-crafted beverages, cocktails from West Coast partners, ample charging stations and privacy booths for calls and meetings.

This summer, the carrier will launch year-round service to Everett/Paine Field (PAE) and Pasco-Tri Cities (PSC), along with seasonal service to Jackson Hole (JAC). Last month, Alaska Airlines added service from Portland to Baltimore (BWI), Bellingham (BLI), Idaho Falls (IDA), Philadelphia (PHL) and St. Louis (STL).

More Lounge Investments Ahead

The Portland lounge is part of a broader strategy to enhance the guest experience across Alaska’s network as the carrier continues its global growth ambitions.

The airline recently announced plans for a new flagship lounge in Seattle, scheduled to open in 2027. At more than 41,000 square feet, it will become the largest lounge in Alaska Airlines’ network and one of the largest airline lounges in the U.S.
