Hyatt Ziva Cancun opened in Cancun’s Punta Cancun beach location in November. The 547-site resort underwent an $85 million expansion and renovation, featuring Mexican architecture as well as gourmet dining experiences and a microbrewery.
Mexican Architect Ricardo Legoretta designed the original resort building, which features pyramid-style architecture, and that has been incorporated into the new, expanded resort. The interior decor combines contemporary design with an influence from Mayan materials and themes. The resort’s furnishings are made from local woods and fabrics and use bright color accents influenced by the Mayan culture. The lobby’s facade is a local coral stone, and the opposite side uses modern glass cubes to mimic that of windswept driftwood. Even the lobby bar features Mayan culture with geometric artwork and panels inspired by indigenous carvings.
Featuring nine restaurants and six bars and lounges, the resort offers a wide selection of fresh and seasonal cuisine as part of its all-inclusive dining experience. Everything from a French brasserie and Italian cucina to an Asian-infused such and teriyaki restaurant are available. Expert mixologists also mix up signature cocktails, and the onsite Tres Cervezas microbrewery offers three house-made beers crafted by Head Brewmaster Juan Jose Garcia. The craft beers are served throughout the resort, even in its variety of event spaces such as the outdoor lawn and garden and beach venues with ocean views as the backdrop.
