The luxury hotel scene in the Windy City will soon be getting an upgrade. Phase one of a multimillion-dollar renovation to The Ritz-Carlton Chicago will begin in January 2016, combining the traditional luxury brand amenities with contemporary highlights to create a new club lounge, fitness center and suite bathrooms.

The addition of the Ritz-Carlton Club Lounge will help set the luxury property apart in the downtown Chicago area. Located on the 15th floor, it will feature views of the Magnificent Mile and Lake Michigan. Its decor will also include walnut hardwood floors as well as walnut cabinetry, highlighted by hints of blue, gold and brown. Not only will the lounge be designed to feel like a residential apartment, but a separate library will be available for guests to relax in, or meeting planners can rent it for private events.

The 434-room will also upgrade its fitness center to feature unobstructed views of Navy Pier, downtown and the lake. The renovation will also include upgraded bathrooms in 90 suites, featuring white vanities, grey linear stone floors, and separate shower and toilet rooms.

“The Ritz-Carlton brand is synonymous with luxury, and we’re eager to raise the profile of this hotel in Chicago’s coveted Gold Coast neighborhood to provide the unparalleled experience guests expect when staying at a Ritz-Carlton hotel,” says Michel Goget, general manager of property. “From adding the Club Lounge to refashioning guest suites, The Ritz-Carlton, Chicago will be premier choice hotel on Michigan Avenue.”

Completion of phase one is scheduled from spring 2016, and phase two of the renovation will begin in January 2017.
