As meetings and conventions build back to their pre-pandemic levels, hotels in the SE United States are opening and/or sprucing up to meet the demand. Check them out:

The Plaza San Antonio Hotel & Spa

Newly opened last week, the Plaza San Antonio Hotel & Spa—San Antonio’s first Autograph Collection Hotel—features 253 oversized guest rooms, two restaurants/bars, expansive meeting space, and repurposed 19th century historic buildings that are home to a day spa and a one-of-a-kind bungalow suite. The new luxury hotel at the corner of South Alamo Street and East Cesar Chavez Boulevard in the center of downtown San Antonio is just steps away from Hemisfair, La Villita and the Henry B. Gonzalez Convention Center, not mention boasts its own extensive meeting space.

Luxury and wellness amenities are complete at Plaza San Antonio with the addition of a new day spa, The Spa Plaza San Antonio. Open initially with limited in-room services for guests only, The Spa Plaza San Antonio, will officially open its full suite of services to the public in March. In anticipation of the full opening, The Spa is offering a 24 percent discount for any appointments scheduled for March that are booked in advance during the first week of the hotel’s opening (must book between Jan. 18-Jan. 25).

Plaza San Antonio Hotel & Spa also features a resort-style swimming pool and two community-focused restaurants and bars, Corinne San Antonio and Anaqua Garden Bar.

Led by Executive Chef Joseph Krauss, Corinne San Antonio serves weekday breakfast, lunch and dinner, and weekend brunch and dinner. Corinne’s menu weaves together classic American food with South Texas and Gulf Coast influences. Meanwhile, Anaqua Garden Bar is a sanctuary overlooking the hotel’s outdoor pool and features a fusion of Japanese foodways with Latin tradition, inventive botanical-forward cocktails, lush seating and a curated soundtrack to create a Zen oasis. Following a period of limited winter hours, regular operating hours and extended outdoor seating will come with a grand opening later this spring.

Plaza San Antonio offers flexible and unique meeting space options for every event and meeting type with more than 21,000 sf of indoor and outdoor venues, including a nearly 6,000-sf ballroom.

Plaza San Antonio is the city’s only Autograph Collection hotel.

Signia by Hilton, Atlanta

Signia by Hilton Atlanta’s signature restaurant, Capolinea.

Hilton has expanded its Georgia portfolio with the first Signia by Hilton property in the state—the 976-room Signia by Hilton Atlanta, the city’s largest ground-up hotel development project in 40 years.

Poised to become a signature landmark and economic catalyst on the city’s west side, Signia by Hilton Atlanta is owned by Georgia World Congress Center Authority (GWCCA) and forms part of the Authority’s Championship Campus, North America’s largest combined convention, sports, and entertainment destination, which also includes Georgia World Congress Center, Mercedes-Benz Stadium and Centennial Olympic Park.

Built on the repurposed foundation of the Georgia Dome, Signia by Hilton was developed based on meeting planner feedback, to create a premium experience for meeting planners and their attendees. The new property offers more than 100,000 sf of meeting and events space, including the largest hotel ballroom in Georgia, a flexible social ballroom for small celebrations, company parties, conference sessions and more. Striving to provide flexibility to meeting planners as well as differentiated spaces that inspire, engage and energize attendees, the hotel offers three additional boardrooms with Mercedes-Benz Stadium views, perfect for private and executive meetings.

In addition, event organizers and meeting planners also have access to more than 30,000 sf of outdoor space, including an event deck and an event lawn. For added convenience, a pedestrian walkway to Georgia World Congress Center allows convention guests prime access to GWCC’s Georgia ballroom and breakout rooms throughout their stay.

For meetings and events, the hotel’s catering and events team provides bespoke service and best-in-class food and beverage with visually stunning food and inventive drinks. The extensive banquet menu includes cuisine reflecting the spirit of Atlanta, aiming to energize attendees throughout the day. Guests can enjoy interactive components to their meetings and events, ranging from experiential meeting breaks to chef dinners and mixology demonstrations.

Alert for foodies: At the helm of the hotel’s talented culinary team are Director of Food and Beverage Jacob Linzey, Executive Chef Christian Quiñones and Executive Pastry Chef Daniella Lea Rada who oversee Signia by Hilton Atlanta’s eight next-level food and beverage experiences, each featuring locally and regionally sourced ingredients.

For anyone keeping up with their wellness routine while on the road, the hotel also offers rooms with Peloton Bikes and specific wellness amenities. In addition, Signia by Hilton Atlanta features an entire floor dedicated to wellness, a state-of-the-art fitness center, a lavish spa, beauty bar, and an outdoor rooftop complete with a pool and lounge that overlook Mercedes-Benz Stadium.

A spa and beauty bar are expected to debut later this winter and will serve as an oasis of pampering and rejuvenation with result-driven treatments, featuring spa amenities from partners including Babor, Botanika Life, Essence One, Higher Dose and Hyperice. or
