Queen Kapi‘olani Hotel

Located just 300 steps from Waikiki Beach in Honolulu, the 315-room Queen Kapi‘olani Hotel carries on its traditions while creating new ones in its latest $35 million renovation.

Debuting this summer, the renovation will play off the property’s circa-1960 history with a new mid-century modern aesthetic. Spacious sectional couches blend with decorative planters and murals of surfers throughout the open-air lobby that fronts Kapi‘olani Park. A nod to Queen Kapi‘olani’s community-oriented legacy, the hotel commissioned local artists to create some of the artwork lining the walls of the lobby and common areas.

The third-floor lanai (outdoor deck) touts another 8,000 sf of innovative space, featuring a plant wall adjacent to the bar that opens into the new culinary concept touting views of the ocean in the distance. DECK restaurant features a menu of shared plates with an emphasis on local fresh catch and produce.

The guest rooms feature views of both the ocean and the towering Diamond Head ridgeline in the backdrop. Designed with colors that represent the ocean, the rooms incorporate similar mid-century modern furniture as well as open out onto individual lanais. Attendees will want to take advantage of the property’s only-in-Hawaii touches like the convenient surfboard storage available near the beach. That makes it easy to catch some waves before meeting in the hotel’s more than 5,000 sf of indoor and outdoor event space.
