SITE’s International Board of Directors and senior leadership team met recently in Muscat, Oman, to explore this emerging incentive travel destination and exchange industry knowledge and best practices with destination leadership at the association’s 2024 Executive Summit.
The Summit, which took place Nov. 9-13, 2024, was supported by Oman’s Ministry of Heritage and Tourism. The SITE board and senior leadership team were also welcomed to and hosted at the new five-star Mandarin Oriental, Muscat—which opened its doors in June of this year.
Highlights of the 2024 Summit included a SITE-led industry education day that drew more than 100 Omani professionals looking to strengthen their own incentive travel offering; an immersive destination discovery day designed by Oasis Incentives; and a post-trip, where several board members continued exploring the diverse beauty of Oman, the oldest continuously independent state in the Arab world.
“It was a special opportunity to experience such a distinct, exciting incentive travel-ready destination,” said SITE CEO Annette Gregg in a media announcement. “Having experienced the warm hospitality, rich cultural sites, and safe, welcoming atmosphere that our host partners created, all of us look forward to seeing Oman earn well-deserved incentive business as it continues to build on its strong destination foundation.”
Local suppliers and partners at the Ministry of Heritage and Tourism were excited to host top industry leaders and showcase their destination’s incentive readiness.
“Hosting the 2024 SITE Executive Summit was a standout chance to be part of an event that unites the brightest minds in our industry,” said Khalid Walid Al Zadjali, Director of the Oman Convention Bureau at the Ministry of Heritage & Tourism.
“By having SITE leadership explore the inspiring beauty, enriching experiences, and outstanding incentive product, we are confident this will solidify Oman’s future attractiveness as a unique incentive travel destination ready to be discovered by more of our international colleagues.”
The 2024 Executive Summit also included time for the SITE International Board of Directors to meet and elect new leadership for the upcoming calendar year, with the results of this year’s Executive Committee votes published shortly after the Summit concluded.
SITE will now turn its attention to wrapping up a strong 2024, which saw the association hit an all-time record for membership—with more than 3,000 incentive professionals now part of the association—and planning for its first events in the new year.
