Survey: Equal Pay, C-Level Roles Continue to Elude Industry Women

surveyPrevue’s soon-to-be-released survey of 302 women, created in partnership with the Society for Incentive Travel Excellence (SITE)’s Women IN Leadership Committee, confirms that the glass ceiling above the meetings and incentives industry remains more or less intact.

A sneak peek at this new survey reveals that women still have a long way to go when it comes to equal pay and taking their place in the top roles at many companies. As far as salary, just under half of the respondents (49%) said they believed they are not paid at an equal rate as men in their positions. Half of the respondents reported that just a third of C-Level/Senior Management positions in their companies are occupied by women, and 24% said that 10% or fewer of the top positions were held by women.

In fact, when asked if they have ever been in a job where they believed their gender would prohibit them from advancing any further, more than half (58%) of respondents said yes. When Prevue asked that same question to 708 meeting industry planners and suppliers in 2018, just under half of respondents answered yes.

The survey, which was taken by 228 meeting planners and 74 industry suppliers during the month of July, will delve into other topics of importance, from sexual harassment to work-life balance to mentorship. Look for its release in September, and don’t miss the accompanying webinar, Navigating Challenges for Women in the Meetings & Incentives Industry, on September 25th at 1 p.m. EST. Register here.
