Meet the Women Behind Prevue

Print Friendly, PDF & Email

In celebration of International Women’s Day, we are celebrating the women editors of Prevue.

Meet the brains behind the Prevue brand:

Laurel Herman, Prevue Publisher/Editorial Director

Laurel Herman is publisher/editorial director of Prevue and the leader of its parent company, Worth International. She has spent the last 40 years roaming the globe with the focused belief that sharing stories of different cultures and experiences is an integral way to foster world peace. It all started in 1972 while she was finishing her college education in London, when she had the opportunity to backpack throughout Europe. Laurel continued her love affair with travel by expanding Recommend Magazine to a worldwide destination brand when she became its publisher/editorial director in 1985. She then launched the Prevue brand in 2009.

Paloma Villaverde de Rico, Prevue Executive Editor

Executive Editor of Prevue and its sister publication, Recommend, Paloma Villaverde de Rico has worked in the media industry in South Florida for over 30 years. She has worked for various media outlets, including The Miami Herald, Aboard In-flight Magazines, Herald Custom Publishing, and Terra.com, and co-authored a Miami guidebook for Avalon Travel Publishing. She’s been with Recommend for more than 18 years and has a passion for traveling the world and bringing back news that travel advisors can use.

Visionary Summit

Barbara Scofidio, Prevue Editor

Barbara Scofidio (left) is Editor of Prevue and heads up the Visionary Summits, our exclusive conference series targeting senior-level meeting and incentive planners. In her 30 years in the industry, she has become known for her passion around greening meetings, growing awareness of human trafficking and promoting CSR activities as part of business events. She is currently a member of SITE’s Women IN Leadership committee and the media liaison for FICP’s Education Committee. She was the first member of the media ever to be invited to sit on a committee by GBTA, where she spent three years on the Groups and Meetings Committee. She has also been an active member of SITE for 30 years, chairing its Crystal Awards committee and acting as a judge. Before joining Prevue in 2014, she served as Editor of Corporate Meetings & Incentives (MeetingsNet) for more than 20 years.

Lydia Gregory, Recommend Managing Editor

Lydia Gregory got her start in travel writing in 1997 as Mexico Editor for Recommend magazine—and was thrilled to be back in 2022 as Managing Editor. In the intervening years, she enjoyed applying her experience and flair to her work as a freelance travel writer, editor, copywriter, and translator. Fully bilingual and bicultural, her background includes stints on Puerto Rican television, recording voice overs, and gracing the mastheads of an eclectic collection of Spanish- and English-language magazines and meetings guides—though her one true love is putting frequent flyer miles on her laptop and sharing her experiences with her readers.
