Ellis, an AI chat platform created for MICE professionals, streamlines the planning process for New York City meetings.
Expectations were high when travel industry veteran Julie Coker took the helm of New York City Tourism + Conventions as CEO and President in early December. In short order, she has begun to deliver on her leadership ability, announcing a new AI business event chat bot called Ellis to help meeting and event planners efficiently research the countless only-in-New-York options the five boroughs have to offer. Designed in partnership with Matador Network’s GuideGeek, Ellis (named after the storied NY landmark Ellis Island) provides guidance and resources in 45 languages. It was built on GuideGeek’s ChatGPT4o platform, using information from NYC Tourism + Conventions and more than 1,000 other integrations for travel information.
“We’re pleased to unveil Ellis, the first-ever AI chat platform by a DMO designed to revolutionize event planning in New York City,” said Coker. “As a global leader in travel, we’re breaking new ground with this free, innovative tool that empowers planners to craft unique events across our five boroughs. With 13.1 million business travelers expected this year, NYC is primed to deliver unforgettable experiences.”
Planners can use Ellis to drill down for specific information on a wide range of questions and receive instant, detailed responses. For example: What is a room with a fantastic skyline view I can rent for a meeting of 50 people? Or: How can I incorporate authentic Chinatown cuisine into a conference for 250 I’m planning in the nearby downtown area?
“We’re thrilled to enhance our convention development services with this innovative new feature, helping planners customize their events with endless possibilities across New York City’s five boroughs,” said Jerry Cito, Executive Vice President, Convention Development at New York City Tourism + Conventions.
