When JetBlue launched in 2000, it made a name for itself by giving every passenger something that was unusual at the time: Free, live, multi-channel television at every seat. Now, the airline is bringing that same appetite for a different kind of onboard experience to domestic first class.

JetBlue’s new BlueFirst experience, available for booking this fall, adds upgraded seating, seatback ordering, enhanced dining and new airport benefits. The first BlueFirst aircraft is expected to debut later this year, with the product rolling out in markets where JetBlue does not currently operate Mint.

“Domestic first class has become easy to predict. We think it’s time for a fresh take,” said Joanna Geraghty, JetBlue’s CEO, in a media statement. “Customers are increasingly looking for more premium experiences, and BlueFirst gives them an elevated experience that feels distinctly JetBlue, with thoughtful touches, caring service and great value. It’s another way we’re bringing our JetForward strategy to life and giving customers more reasons to choose JetBlue.”

Comfort, Technology and a Few Surprises

The upgrades start at the seat. BlueFirst’s two-by-two configuration gives passengers five inches of recline and up to seven inches of additional legroom compared with JetBlue’s Main seats. The seats use T&N Flex foam, developed with Tuft & Needle, to provide added cushioning and support.

Entertainment gets an upgrade, too. Each seat will have a 13.3-inch screen with Bluetooth connectivity, plus USB-A, USB-C and 110V power.

But beyond optimal streaming, passengers will also be able to order meals and browse onboard products directly from their screens via Blueprint by JetBlue. A new “Mixologist Mode” lets them build a custom cocktail by selecting a spirit, mixer and flavorings, then sending the order to the crew.

Speaking of F&B, on flights of 899 miles or longer, BlueFirst customers will receive FirstFare meals served in a bento-style box, with choices such as sweet or savory crepes and sesame noodles with beef or tofu. Premium snacks will rotate by flight and route, while the beverage lineup includes wines selected by New York’s Parcelle, specialty coffee from Cometeer and Joe Coffee, and Smith Teamaker teas.

On the ground, BlueFirst customers will receive Group 1 boarding, dedicated overhead bin space, priority check-in and expedited security access at more than 30 airports. BlueFirst and BlueFirst Flex fares will also include two free checked bags, priority baggage delivery and no change or cancellation fees.

BlueFirst follows JetBlue’s recent expansion of its premium offerings, including the recent opening of a BlueHouse lounge at Boston’s Logan Airport, joining airline’s inaugural lounge at JFK, which opened December 2025. The airline says BlueFirst will bring its approach to premium travel to more customers across its domestic network, while Mint will continue serving longer-haul and transatlantic routes.

Additional details, including initial routes and booking availability, will be announced later this year. Stay tuned to JetBlue.
