Global purveyor of luxury accommodations and lifestyle brands Accor has revealed its list of 2023 hotel openings, and it’s an eye-opener.
Accor is known for its white-glove service, award-winning restaurants and bars, extraordinary wellness programs, and the 40+ brands under its wing. Specifically, in the luxury hotel segment, Accor is looking at 8 openings spread out over the next year.
Among them, the Sofitel Legend Casco Viejo Panama (early 2023), a first in Panama’s luxury lineup with an “authentic French identity” opening in the city’s old quarter, debuting with 159 rooms and suites—most with ocean views—and a rooftop bar to soak in the best of this UNESCO World Heritage Site; Raffles London at The OWO (mid-2023), located at the historic Old War Office in Whitehall, London, has undergone an impressive transformation and will open with 120 guest rooms and suites, 85 private residences, 11 restaurants and bars, and an exclusive Guerlain spa and wellness facility by PILLAR; and Sofitel Shanghai North Bund (late 2023), a 25-story hotel with 300 guest rooms and suites and jaw-dropping views of the city.
In the lifestyle hotel department, Accor teamed up with Ennismore to open 9 properties, including the Maison Delano Paris (early 2023) located in the chic 8th Arrondissement and housed in an 18th-century courtyard building; the historic 21c Museum Hotel St. Louis, Missouri, (early 2023), once a former YMCA site, now a contemporary art-filled space with a full-service athletic and swim club; and the Mondrian and Hyde Ibiza (mid-2023), two properties that will be located on the southeast end of the island on Cala Llonga Bay, with 154 rooms for Mondrian and 409 for the Hyde.
But Wait, Accor Has Even More Brands
The company is looking to open hundreds of new hotels and resorts across the world, so we’ll pick just one in each general area to give you a glimpse of everything that’s going on. In Europe, the ibis Styles Copenhagen Ørestad, a very design-focused property that combines an urban edge with the softness of nature, opens in Denmark in early 2023. In the Americas, Novotel Mexico City Centro Historico opens in late 2023 in the historical center, the fourth for Novotel in Mexico City; in China, two hotels, Grand Mercure Living Chengdu & Grand Mercure Chengdu, open in late 2023 in the Western Financial Innovation Center with a hotel and residences right in the center of the area’s bustling business district; and in Asia, the Mercure Hotel Cairns debuts after a multi-million dollar facelift and rebrand with 75 guest rooms and a new Australian restaurant.
