Ocean Center

Groups meeting in Daytona Beach have the option of a 205,000-sf complex just steps from the beach and neighboring Ocean Walk Village Shoppes in Ocean Center.

We spoke with Angela Daniels, director of sales, marketing and event services for Ocean Center to discover some of the local touch points and tips that make this center a popular option for meetings, conferences and events.

Any tips for helping planners architect high-impact F&B experiences at conferences?

As a meeting planner for a convention group I would ask for a food tasting prior to the event so to get a first-hand experience of the menu items. I would not be afraid to ask for themed menu items if your conference has a certain theme.

Can you speak to the “wow” factor of your facility?

We receive regular feedback from our clients and their comments are about the personalized service of our staff and the willingness to go out of their way to please the client. Others love the building because of its natural light, art galleries and ease of finding meeting space around the building. Our executive chef prepares menus specifically for groups and his presentations are unique. Another notable feature is everything in walking distance—hotels, restaurants, shopping, entertainment and attractions.

How do you work with the destination to bring local culture and traditions into the center?

The center has artwork from local Florida artist along with marine like colors that are bright and colorful indicative of the Florida coast.
