Sausalito has a long and colorful history, but until 2023, the city had never hosted an official LGBTQ+ celebration or festival. Those days are over. Take a look at what they have planned during Pride Month.
One of the original “gayborhoods” in the Bay Area, Sausalito is across the Golden Gate Bridge—or a ferry ride away—from San Francisco and has a history of welcoming all people. In fact, in the 1950’s Sausalito had more gay bars (eight of them) than any other place in the country.
Set on a hillside against the Bay, Sausalito’s small downtown of shops, restaurants and galleries is best explored on foot, while strolling the Bridgeway Promenade offers the most famous views in town and some of the best views of San Francisco anywhere.
Visitors will see all that and more during the Pride celebration, coming up June 20-22 and featuring the following:

June 20, Pascal Bokar AfroBlueGrazz Band who will be playing some groovy and jazzy beats. Lawn seating at on the City of Sausalito website. Food and drink will be for sale or you can BYOB. Kid-friendly and dogs are welcome.

June 21, Sausalito Center of the Arts: Pride and Expression, a free gathering for all ages will explore the power of queer literature, art, and conversation. The evening includes a reception with bites and drinks as well as an art exhibition by award-winning portrait artist Paul Morin.
- June 22, Ditas Marin: Tea By the Sea, an afternoon of celebration by the Sausalito waterfront, surrounded by great music, dazzling drag queens and coastal vibes. Tickets include an open bar, complimentary bites all afternoon and dancing to beats from a DJ.
