Atlantic City is bringing its Monopoly connection to IMEX America, using the iconic board game to showcase the destination—and the region beyond its casinos.

Atlantic City’s life-sized Monopoly gameboard.

The activation builds on a recent life-size Monopoly experience at New York City’s Grand Central Terminal, held Oct. 2-4, following a similar event at Washington, D.C.’s Union Station. The experiences tap into the nostalgia surrounding a game inspired by Atlantic City, while putting the destination’s landmarks directly on the board.

At Grand Central, the life-size game featured familiar Atlantic City spots including the Boardwalk, Ocean Casino Resort and Hard Rock Hotel & Casino. The activation also looked beyond the city, highlighting attractions in Atlantic County and Cape May County, including Renault Winery. Visitors could enter to win Atlantic City-themed prizes, getaways and hotel stays.

“Visit Atlantic City’s Land on Fun Monopoly activation at Grand Central Station was so special because it was an immersive experience that connected the history of Monopoly to the streets of Atlantic City and highlighted Visit Atlantic City’s brand personality that resonated with attendees,” says Karina Anthony, Executive Director of Marketing for Visit Atlantic City. “We wanted consumers to tap into the nostalgia of our destination by associating their memories of Atlantic City with a joyful experience while playing a shortened version of the iconic Monopoly game on our uniquely designed game board.”

At IMEX America, Atlantic City will continue that conversation with meeting and incentive planners, using Monopoly as a familiar entry point to a destination story that extends beyond gaming and casinos.

For planners, that means a closer look at the area’s mix of entertainment, attractions, hotels and regional options for groups.

“IMEX is a sensorial experience with creative designs around every turn. I hope attendees will immerse themselves in our daily activations and see what makes Atlantic City iconic while conducting important business with our sales team,” Anthony says.
