JW Marriott Detroit Water Square Raises the Bar for Meetings

Detroit’s first JW Marriott and luxury convention hotel welcomes groups.

The JW Marriott Detroit Water Square, billed as the city’s first luxury convention hotel—and the first JW Marriott in Detroit—is due to open in February, 2027. With 601 guest rooms and more than 53,000 sf of event space, the hotel will be connected via skybridge to the 2.4 million sf Huntington Place Convention Center. Additional details include:

A 17,000-sf Grand Ballroom and 13,000-sf Junior Ballroom, each with private waterfront terraces overlooking the Detroit River. In total, there are 14 flexible meeting rooms with advanced AV and river view pre-function space.
Meeting space on levels three and four with escalator and guest elevator access.
Executive Lounge access for focused work, light bites and drinks.
Guest elevators extend to the loading dock, allowing discreet and seamless VIP arrivals.
Luxury guest rooms include 44 suites and a 2,100-sf Presidential Suite.
An 11,000-square-foot Spa by JW features nine waterfront treatment rooms and a 50-ft indoor lap pool.
F&B includes 24-hour, in-room dining plus four distinct dining concepts: JW Market, an elevated grab‑and‑go cafe; The Assembly, a sophisticated lobby bar with an outdoor terrace overlooking the Detroit River; Verena, an all‑day American restaurant showcasing locally inspired cuisine; and Joe Muer Seafood + Chops, the iconic Detroit institution reimagined with prime steaks, sourced seafood and seasonal specialties.

The JW Marriott Detroit Water Square is available to planners who take advantage of Marriott Bonvoy Convention and Resort Network’s multi-hotel booking offer available through December, 2026.
